Sluice Gates

Hunton’s have experience of tilting weir gates which offer a unique combination of low visual impact and fine control of the upstream water level. Typical installations include Osney Tilting Weir which was designed, manufactured and installed in 2013 in Oxford on the River Thames. The gate is 2.6m high by 5.5m wide and is controlled via a Rotork IQ actuator through a robust rack and pinion drive. The gate and drive system is construction from stainless steel. The gate can and drive combined was CE marked under the machinery directive.

Lock gates

Hunton’s were awarded the Design and Build contract for a replacement set of Lock gates in 2014. The works included survey of the existing lock, full design of a new set of gates, manufacture and installation in situ. Each gate weighs around 8 Tonnes and is manufactured in Carbon steel to EN 1090 execution class 3 and designed the Eurocode 3. Coating is a duplex system of thermal metal spray and epoxy coating to comply with the highest class in ISO 12944, Class C5-M.
