Huntons have recently completed several weir upgrades on the River Wey over the past 2 years to provide increased flood protection and enhance fish stocks upstream by the installation of multiple fish passes. The works are spread over seven sites and have been completed for the Environment Agency.

The Wey Navigation which was first operated from 1653 forms a waterway to provide a 20-mile route from the River Thames between Weybridge, and Godalming. The  Improvement Scheme weirs control water levels for the purposes of navigation and flood protection needed refurbishment works to prevent operational or structural failure.

Huntons have over 15 years experience in designing and installing fish passes and have developed bespoke fabrication techniques to enhance the design and operability of the fish pass design. The fish passes were designed, detailed and fabricated inhouse at Hunton Engineering, and subsequently installed on site.
