Huntons have commissioned a pair of remotely operated flood defence mitre gates as part of the Environment Agency Ipswich flood defence management scheme.
These 3 tonne flood gates are opened and closed by electrically powered ADE lead screw driven rams powered by AUMA motorised actuators. The first of their kind to be used in the UK.
This installation includes powered horizontal ground seals which can be raised and lowered over railway tracks. These are driven with electric motors and four lifter jacks on each gate.
The entire system can be operated remotely from a control room situated 50m from the gate, or alternatively from a local control panel situated in a kiosk which is adjacent to the gate itself.
