Hunton’s were commissioned in 2014 to undertake the manufacture of a diamond cleaning plant for installation in Botswana. the plant consisted of two main skids, one in stainless steel and one in PVDF plastic with a further six bulk storage skids. The steel vessels and pipework were manufactured to ASME VIII whilst the PVDF plastic pipework was also manufactured in house.
Given the aggressive acid contents the system was entirely automated with robotic pick and place mechanisms and automated sliding vessel lids on the 12 pressure vessels.
Rigorous testing was undertaken at Hunton’s works including pressure tests of all pipework, radiography and a full trial assembly. The unit was then fully dismantled, packed and shipped to Africa for installation.
